David Sischy

DAVID SISCHY practices primarily in the areas of commercial and securities litigation. He regularly acts as counsel in complex commercial disputes involving allegations of fraud, shareholder oppression, misrepresentation, professional negligence, and breach of contract. David has acted as both class counsel and defense counsel in class action proceedings, with a particular emphasis on securities class actions.

David has extensive experience defending respondents in securities regulatory matters. He acts for securities industry participants, including both individual registrants and investment dealers, in enforcement proceedings and quasi-criminal prosecutions before the Ontario Securities Commission, Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) and Mutual Fund Dealers Association (MFDA). He has appeared before the courts of Ontario and Alberta, including representing clients at trial and pre-trial motions before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, including the Commercial List, and in appeals before the Divisional Court and Ontario Court of Appeal.

David graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2008 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2009. Prior to working at Groia & Company, he worked as a summer and articling student at a full service Bay Street firm.
