DAWIT DEBSSOU is an associate with Groia & Company practicing in the areas of commercial and securities litigation. Dawit assists clients in a broad range of commercial issues including shareholder disputes, securities class actions, breach of contract, professional liability claims, and securities regulation.
Prior to joining Groia & Company, Dawit articled at the Toronto office of a global law firm and worked as a summer student at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO). Dawit received his B.B.A. from Wilfrid Laurier University, and his J.D./M.P.A. from Queen’s University. During law school, Dawit volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada, Queen’s Legal Aid, and won the best factum award at the Donald G. H. Bowman National Tax Moot. As a graduate student, Dawit participated in a major research project advising the Government of the Northwest Territories on how to manage environmental liabilities caused by the mining industry. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2019.
