Ellie Owens

Articling Student, 2019-2020
Ellie comes to us from Western University where she graduated with a JD. She also holds a BSc geology from the University of Waterloo. Ellie has three years of experience working as a geologist across Canada (including many months spent in the arctic) and the United States, in the diamonds, nuclear waste, oil & gas, and precious metals industries. She spent two years working for the engineering firm Golder & Associates as a consultant out of the hydrogeologic and rock mechanics divisions. In law school, Ellie participated in numerous advocacy competitions, worked out of the litigation clinic, and ran multiple clubs, including the mining law club. She is still an active member of the Canadian mining industry.

Ekin Ober

Articling Student, 2019-2020
Ekin obtained her JD/MBA from the Osgoode Hall Law School and Schulich School of Business where she was a vice president of the JD/MBA Students’ Association, a caseworker at the Investor Protection Clinic, and an active member of the Schulich Finance Association. Ekin also attended the National University of Singapore during an exchange semester in the Fall of 2018. Prior to her legal studies, Ekin completed a degree in Psychology and Economics from University of Guelph where she graduated with distinction. During the course of her legal education, Ekin also worked at a non-governmental organization as well as the United Nations in Thailand where she presented on national and cross-border corporate governance issues in Asia. Prior to joining the firm as an articling student, she worked in the investment banking industry, with a focus on the real estate, energy, transportation and retail industries.
