Abel Hazon

Summer Student, 2019
Abel is a combined JD/MPA student at Queen’s University Faculty of Law. At Queen’s, Abel is heavily involved in advocacy work at the graduate student level, serving two-terms as the elected VP Finance for the SGPS and one term as a council representative.  Prior to law school, Abel attended Carleton University’s undergraduate program in Law where he participated in seven national moot competitions and completed a major research paper under the supervision of the Chair of the Law Department. At Carleton, Abel was also heavily involved with the student association, CUSA, participating in countless student advocacy programs and eventually taking the full-time role of Executive Assistant and Officer Administrator for one year prior to attending the MPA/JD program.

Ellie Owens

Articling Student, 2019-2020
Ellie comes to us from Western University where she graduated with a JD. She also holds a BSc geology from the University of Waterloo. Ellie has three years of experience working as a geologist across Canada (including many months spent in the arctic) and the United States, in the diamonds, nuclear waste, oil & gas, and precious metals industries. She spent two years working for the engineering firm Golder & Associates as a consultant out of the hydrogeologic and rock mechanics divisions. In law school, Ellie participated in numerous advocacy competitions, worked out of the litigation clinic, and ran multiple clubs, including the mining law club. She is still an active member of the Canadian mining industry.
